Project description
The SUNRISE project serves to disseminate and establish balcony power plants (or plug-in solar devices) in Eastern and South-Eastern European countries. The project partners come from Bulgaria, Lithuania and North Macedonia. Balcony power plants are neither widespread nor known in these countries. Thanks to the simple installation with just a few steps and a simple connection of the system via the standard household Schuko plug, such a mini solar system can already make a contribution to the energy transition, even if it is only a small contribution.
The aim of this project is therefore to support local organisations in the expansion of solar energy projects through the exchange of experience and knowledge transfer. Legal and technical obstacles are identified at national level in the above-mentioned countries and solutions are developed. Flat owners and tenants are to be sensitised to the general potential of solar energy with the help of balcony power plants, with the aim of encouraging larger installations of PV systems in the medium term. Around 30-40 pilot projects with balcony power plants are to be initiated as part of the project. The pilot projects will be accompanied and analysed by appropriate monitoring. When selecting suitable households with suitable balconies, the focus is on ensuring that these are visible from the street and the pedestrian walkway so that citizens' awareness is raised and interest is aroused. At the same time, SUNRISE is researching the role that homeowners' associations can play in the implementation of such projects in apartment blocks.
