Introduction to using the OpenPlan tool
In this interactive course, participants are introduced to the operation of the OpenPlan tool by means of practical exercises.

Dates
07.05., 14:00 - 17:00 (online)
23.09., 14:00 - 17:00 (online)
Course description
In this course, participants will learn the basic functions of the OpenPlan tool. Firstly, the operation of the tool is explained in a theoretical section using a real-life practical example. Participants will then be familiarised with the operation of the tool using practical, interactive exercises.
The focus of the course is on the introduction to the operation of the OpenPlan tool. It does not cover the modelling of energy systems. For this reason, basic prior knowledge of modelling energy systems is assumed for participation in the course.
About OpenPlan
A cross-sector, open planning tool was developed as part of the OpenPlan 1.0 research project. This is used for the optimised planning of energy systems to supply the electricity and heat requirements of neighbourhoods, commercial buildings and industry.
The programme code is published under an open and free licence and is constantly being developed further by the open science community. Among other things, the OpenPlan 2.0 project will add further functions to the tool in order to prepare it for use in municipal heat planning. In addition, user-friendliness will be improved by adding interfaces for simplified data import. The OpenPlan 2.0 project is being funded from September 2024 to August 2027 as part of the 7th Energy Research Programme of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy.
