The regions should be promoted as centers of green energy technology, which should improve the situation on the job market

Map LANDonline
Map of the transnational network

The project concentrates on renewable energy and storage technologies. In the process, the regions of Südburgenland (Austria), Lodz (Poland) and the Kleeblatt region around the city of Kyritz (Germany) exchange and expand their experiences.

It focuses mainly on three areas:

  • The potentials of renewable energy (RE) and of the storage technologies foster new fields of activities in the rural regions
  • Further development of career possibilities and training for young professionals, crafts people, engineers, and specialized enterprises
  • Development of the network of “Renewable Energy Municipalities”. This way Kleeblatt region could win new visitors with the planned bike and e-bike “Energy Tourism Route” where tourists could travel for leisure and at the same time discover local RE facilities, a model which is already very successful in Südburgenland.

Interesting projects of local companies, private persons and energy projects can be part of the prospective energy route. The circle of collaborators and experts involved in the network should grow continuously through publications, meetings, expert conferences and study trips. The framework of the project allows the Kyritz region to acquire know-how in the use of renewable energy and energy conservation, for example in the area of energy efficient building renovation. The project and its outcomes should be broadly publicized among others at schools and vocational schools to generate interest in this field and consequently win the urgently needed skilled workforce for the new technical professions.

LANDonline – on the Example of the Model Region of Güssing in Austria

Between the 2 and 4 of October 2014, the project partners visited the model region Güssing in Austria.

The stay at the model region was impressive, informative and insightful to all participants. The strategy of the so-called “Güssing Model” involves decentralized local energy supply based solely on regionally available renewable resources. It allows the region to currently keep 60% of its energy expenditure and be able to use and reinvest it locally.

Additional profit, not only of financial nature, brings the eco energy tourism. The EEE and currently 10 municipalities joined together with the timber construction guild under the symbol of the green drop. Together they form the ökoEnergieland. Individually created wooden objects at central points of the municipalities represent various forms of energy and run like a “green” thread through the ökoEnergieland. Every week new visitors from allover Europe come to experience the “Güssing Model” and make a guided tour to the demonstration facilities. The “öko” does not only symbolize energy, but also intact nature, which one discovers at the latest when making a bike or an e-bike tour on the bike trails of the ökoEnergieland.

Because every region has its own resources to a varying extent, many municipalities can build on that model and make an investment in their future.

Below you will find documents to the events and tours of the project, including recommended course of action:
